  • ESI

    Iniciativa Kosovare per Stabilitet is part of European Stability Initiative-inspired network of think-tanks across South East Europe. Initial establishment of IKS was part of ESI’s capacity building project in the countries of Western Balkans in 2004. Its foundation was assisted by ESI senior analysts working in Kosova and in the Balkans with great emphasis being put on local ownership of the new think tank. 

  • KFOSI / Sorosi

    Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS) has been supporting IKS’s work since early 2005. Research on Prishtina’s governance problems, challenges of Rahovec rural economy, as well as on the future role of the EU in post status Kosovo, have been largely financed by KFOS. Under the FORUM 2015 umbrella KFOS also supported “Image Matters” published at the end of 2008 and "Tracking transition: Assessing the impact of local reform in Kosovo," to be published end of February 2010.

     

  • OSI

    Open Society Institute through its Core Institutional Grant is supporting IKS continuously since 2008. Core and institutional funding continues to provide IKS financial security and has given it the opportunity to continue working and developing further.
    OSI core grant has in particular helped us in conducting a more proactive outreach and advocacy strategy. The institutional grant enabled us to continue our work in accordance with our policies and objectives. 

  • DFID

    Department for International Development is currently supporting IKS’s project: “The Political Economy of Corruption and Accountability in Post-Independence Kosovo.” The project began in November 2009 and is expected to be concluded in spring 2010. The project is an update of IKS earlier report “Reconstruction National Integrity System Survey” published in 2007. This project analyzes further the incentives for and constraints against improvements in anti-corruption.

  • European Commission Liaison Office to Kosovo

    European Commission Liaison Office to Kosovo through European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) currently supports IKS’s project: “The Political Economies of Mitrovica and Gjakova:  Impacting Social and Political Stability.” The overall objective of the project is to ensure democratic participation of diverse civil society actors in Kosovo’s social, economic, and political development toward a joint European future. This project has started at the beginning of 2010 and its due to finish at the end of 2011.

  • TIRI

    In summer 2005 IKS was approached by ‘tiri’ to work on a research project describing the post war reconstruction process in Kosovo, starting from the main actors involved, donors working in Kosovo, local institutions that were build and the state of their integrity to specific cases of donor involvement that were efficient and where lessons can be drawn for other post-war donor involvement situation. Tiri has created a network of think tanks in post war countries that conducted similar work to IKS in Kosovo, for the purpose of collecting lessons learned in various post war situations and drafting overall policy recommendations that could be ease the interventions in new post war settings 

  • Swiss Agency For Development and Cooperation

    IKS research on Prishtina’s Cultural Heritage was mainly supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). 

  • GMF

    Balkan Trust for Democracy is currently supporting IKS’s project: “Political Landscape of Kosovo.” Through this project, IKS aims to analyze systematically the political landscape in Kosovo and then to communicate research findings clearly to the people of Kosovo. If citizens know more about how parties function, how programs are established, and how decisions are made within the party, then they will be able to make more informed choices with regards to who will represent them.  This BTD-funded project began in October 2009 and is foreseen to be concluded in summer 2010.

  • UNICEF

    At present, UNICEF is supporting IKS’s Project: “Young Voices Opinion Poll.” Through this project, IKS takes an unusual look into the thoughts and feelings of Kosovar young people, their perception about the present and future of the country, thus hoping to influence in better policy making for the best interest of Kosovar children and youth. This project has started in the beginning of 2010 and will last four months. “Getting to Lisbon – Assessing vocational training needs and job creation opportunities for rural women,” was also supported by UNICEF.

  • ROCKFELLER

    The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) provided IKS with an institutional grant for the second half of 2005, all of 2006 and first half of 2007. Without the support of RBF, the work of IKS would have become impossible to conduct.  

  • THE WORLD BANK

    In year 2005 the World Bank donated working equipment – computers - to IKS. For more information on the World Bank’s involvement in Kosovo please visit the Countries section of the website 

  • LOCAL GOVERNMENT

    Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative supported IKS’s project: “Mitrovica: Two Realities, One City” from the end of 2008 until end of 2009. Six policy papers produced as a result of this project provide bottom-up policy-oriented research on the ‘actual realities’ in both communities. Policy briefs aims to provoke evidence-based policy debates among and between both communities, among politicians and civil society, media and the public, at the central level and with the international community.

  • EUROPEAN FUND FOR THE BALKANS

    European Funds for the Balkans supported IKS’s project: “Thinking Green” from the end of 2008 until mid of 2009. “Thinking Green” presents a picture of the environmental situation in Kosova today and the way the national and municipal governments handle it, particularly in the municipalities of Prishtina and Obiliq. This paper aims to shed light on previously uncharted territory, encourage action on behalf of the government, and triggering public debate on key issues impacting our lives.
